the car’s colorful coating fades and ceases to be as sparkling as after painting

Over time, the car’s colorful coating fades and ceases to be as sparkling as after painting, although the paint layer remains intact and the metal underneath is clean.

If ordinary polishing does not return the surface to its usual form, then you need to try something more radical for this.

The surface layer of paint fades by sunlight exposing (yellow, red and orange are particularly unstable to sunlight). And the surface loses its luster due to oxidation. Conventional polishing compounds contain a small amount of thin abrasive, which removes a microscopically thin layer of paint from the surface (therefore, the rag, which are used for polishing the surface, acquires the color of the paint).

However, there are compositions that can remove a thicker layer if the paint has significantly lost its luster and color. Such compositions are widely used and are called as grinding pastes. Grinding pastes also contain an abrasive and, like sandpaper, are graded according to the granularity of the abrasive that are contained in them. A coarser paste grinds faster but leaves deeper risks. If you start grinding with the coarsest paste, then you can easily grind the paint through to metal.

Therefore, as with paper, coarse paste should not be abused, and to improve the appearance of the paint coating, it is necessary to switch from a coarser paste to a thinner one and finish processing with the thinnest paste. Be especially careful pasting thin layers of paint – they are very easy to wipe through. Another reason for discoloration of the paint layer is industrial pollution of the atmosphere.

Do not polish the paint with a wax composition earlier than four to five weeks after painting. Otherwise, instead of shine, you will again get a dull surface, as the wax penetrates the paint.
